Electrical Conductivity Waste Analysis Method

Electrical Conductivity or E.C. Waste Analysis Method also called ( ECWAM ) is used to determine exactly how much nutrients your plants are able to absorb.

hydroponics-header

A hydroponics flood to drain or flood to waste, system using reservoirs that allow you to transfer nutrient solution to the plants and then out of the drain to waste.  The E.C of the nutrient concentration is measured prior to going into the plant’s root zone.  The nutrient solution is then drained into another reservoir where you measure the concentration again.  Subtracting the output from what you put in gives you how much nutrients the plants were able to uptake.

Have you tried using this method?  Please comment or contact me.

In the Advanced Section of the DIY Smart Garden System Series, we’ll use ECWAM to help determine nutrient solution uptake.
